New UK Training Project
"Britain We Have The Knowledge"
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), in association with the English Tourism Council and the Scottish and Wales Tourist Boards, is to launch a training manual on May 9, 2000. The programme, published under the banner "Britain We Have The Knowledge", is to be sent free of charge to ABTA Members.
The self-study package has been developed by the Travel Training Company together with the domestic tourism agencies, UK tour operators, hotels, transport companies and other suppliers. Regional Fact Files, Contact Details and Quiz Sheets all help the student to build up their knowledge of our domestic product and, as important, how to sell it successfully.
In addition to ABTA and the domestic tourism agencies, the following were all major sponsors of the programme: Avis Rent A Car, Best Western Hotels, Blakes Holidays in Britain, Bonveno.com, British Holidays, Embassy Leisure Breaks, Forte Hotel Group, Hoseasons Holidays, Rank Group Holidays Division, Shearings Holidays, The British Travel Educational Trust and Wallace Arnold Holidays.
The launch event, held at ABTAs Newman Street offices, will be attended by many of the main sponsors of the programme and the media. Speaking before the official launch, Steven Freudmann (ABTA President) said: "We would like to thank all the sponsors who have helped make this project a reality. We are extremely grateful for their support of this exciting new training opportunity."
